Shanghai Metal Corporation is a leading Galvanized Steel Sheet / Plate manufacturer and supplier.
Galvanized steel sheet/plate is a flat-rolled carbon steel product coated with zinc by the continuous hot-dip galvanizing process. The zinc layer acts as a barrier and provides sacrificial anode protection; when the coating is scratched or damaged, zinc corrodes preferentially, delaying rust of the steel substrate. It is widely used in building roofing, wall cladding, HVAC ducting, appliance housings, electrical enclosures, automotive structural parts, and general fabrication. It mainly solves atmospheric corrosion, white rust during storage and transportation, and red rust in humid or outdoor service, thereby extending service life and reducing maintenance costs. Typical specifications: thickness 0.12–6.0 mm, width 600–1500 mm, zinc coating 30–600 g/m² (Z30–Z600), surface regular / minimum / zero spangle, with chromate passivation, oiling, or anti-fingerprint treatment. It can be cut, slit, bent, punched, and welded. Standards: ASTM A653/A653M, EN 10346, JIS G3302, GB/T 2518.

1.Material Grades: Low-carbon steel, DC01/DC03/DC04, SAE 1008/1010, ASTM A653 CS Type B, SS Grade 230/275/340, strength and formability.
2. Coating Structure:Hot-dip zinc, GI for construction and outdoor protection, GA for paint adhesion and weldability in automotive, appliance and painted parts.
3. Surface Finish:Regular, minimized or zero spangle, optional passivation, oiling or anti-fingerprint treatment.
4. Mechanical Properties:Annealing and temper rolling adjust strength-ductility from full hard to skin-passed, higher strength for structural and load-bearing, high ductility for deep drawing.
5.Formability & Fabrication:Good bending, profiling, punching, lock forming and welding, used in roofing, cladding, HVAC ducts, appliance housings, electrical enclosures and automotive parts.
1. Dual Corrosion Protection
Zinc coating acts as barrier and sacrificial anode, corrodes first when scratched to protect steel, extends service life outdoors, humid and coastal areas, cuts maintenance costs.
2. Strong Coating Adhesion
Zinc bonds tightly to steel, resists flaking during bending, profiling and stamping, keeps corrosion protection on formed parts, reduces rework.
3. Good Fabrication Performance
Sheet can be bent, punched, profiled, lock-formed and welded with common equipment, improves efficiency, reduces cracking or fit-up issues.
4. Multiple Surface and Treatment Options
Regular, minimized or zero spangle, optional passivation, oiling or anti-fingerprint treatment, matches appearance, paint adhesion and storage needs for construction, appliance, automotive and painted parts.
1. Construction Roofing & Wall Cladding
Used for corrugated roofing, wall panels and building envelopes. Zinc coating resists outdoor corrosion. Recommended: GI, Z120–Z275, regular spangle.
2. HVAC Ducting
Used for ventilation and air-conditioning ducts. Resists moisture; easy to bend and lock-form. Recommended: GI, Z60–Z180, passivated/oiled.

Packaging of Galvanized Steel Sheet
Standard Packaging
For sheet/plate products, galvanized steel sheets are stacked neatly, wrapped with waterproof paper, secured with steel straps, and placed on fumigated wooden pallets. Each bundle weighs 1–3 MT (max 5 MT on request). A plastic or metal hood covers the top and sides to protect against moisture during transit. For coil products, each coil is wrapped with PE film and VCI anti-rust paper, fitted with plastic end caps, and secured with at least 3 steel straps. Coil ID: 508/610 mm, OD: 800–1500 mm, weight: 3–8 MT. Coils are packed on fumigated wooden pallets or in wooden crates, 1–2 coils per pallet/crate. Loading can be eye-to-sky or eye-to-wall.
Shipping
We support FCL and LCL sea freight, air freight, and express delivery depending on order quantity and destination. Trade terms include EXW, FOB, CIF, CFR. Other terms may be available upon request. A 20' GP container loads about 18–25 MT; a 40' GP container loads about 22–28 MT, subject to port and road weight limits. Shipping costs are calculated based on cargo volume, gross weight, destination, and selected transportation method. Shipping documents: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Mill Test Certificate, Certificate of Origin. Insurance Certificate provided for CIF terms.
Lead Time
Samples: 3–7 working days
Standard orders: 15–25 working days
Customized orders: 25–40 working days

Q: How long does sample preparation take?
A: Samples are ready in 3–7 working days. Sheet samples are usually 300 × 300 mm; coil samples are small coils. Sample cost depends on specification and quantity. Courier freight is collected. Custom grades or special coatings add 2–3 working days.
Q: What information do you need for a custom quotation?
A: Provide product form (coil/sheet/plate), grade (DC01, DC03, DC04, SAE 1008, ASTM A653 CS Type B), thickness, width, length, zinc coating weight (Z30–Z600), surface finish (regular/minimized/zero spangle), treatment (passivated/oiled/anti-fingerprint), quantity, destination port, and trade term (EXW/FOB/CIF/CFR). Without these, the quotation cannot be accurate.
Q: What is the MOQ and production lead time?
A: MOQ is 1–3 MT for standard specifications and 5 MT for customized specifications. Lead time: samples 3–7 working days; standard orders 15–25 working days; customized orders 25–40 working days after deposit and specification confirmation.
Q: What quality standards and certifications are available?
A: Standards: ASTM A653/A653M, EN 10346, JIS G3302, GB/T 2518. Certifications: ISO 9001, EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate, SGS/BV third-party inspection, Certificate of Origin. RoHS/REACH test reports are available on request.
Q: How do I choose between GI and GA for my application?
A: Choose GI (pure zinc) for construction, roofing, HVAC ducts, and outdoor exposure; it gives stronger sacrificial protection and lower cost. Choose GA (zinc-iron alloy) for automotive, appliance, and painted parts; it gives better spot weldability and paint adhesion. If the part is painted or welded, choose GA. If exposed to weather or moisture, choose GI.
Q: What zinc coating weight should I choose for outdoor roofing?
A: Rural or mild environment: Z120–Z180 (120–180 g/m²). Urban or industrial environment: Z180–Z275. Coastal or heavily polluted environment: Z275–Z600. Thickness: 0.3–1.5 mm. Surface: regular spangle. Standard: ASTM A653 or EN 10346.
Q: How to avoid white rust during storage and shipping?
A: Specify passivation (chromate or chromium-free), oiling, or anti-fingerprint treatment. Pack with VCI anti-rust paper, PE film, and fumigated wooden pallets. Keep the warehouse dry and ventilated; avoid condensation. For sea freight, add container desiccant bags. If white rust appears, remove it with diluted acid or a dedicated cleaner, but this reduces zinc coating thickness.
