Shanghai Metal Corporation is a leading G80/G100 European Type Connecting Link manufacturer and supplier.

G80/G100 European type connecting link, also known as butterfly buckle or chain shackle, is a forged alloy steel connector used to join chain slings with hooks, master links, shackles and other rigging components. It is manufactured from high-strength 35CrMo alloy steel through die forging, quenching and tempering, with two rotating half-rings connected by a center pin and elastic retaining spring inside a hollow cylindrical body. This design allows the two rings to rotate and close at any angle, providing flexibility for chain-to-chain and chain-to-fitting connections. The G80 grade ensures compatibility with EN 818-2 G80 lifting chains, with a safety factor of 4:1 and proof testing at 2.5 times the working load limit. Available in sizes from 6-8 to 32-8 with working load limits from 1.12T to 31.5T, our connecting links are widely used in metallurgy, steel, electricity, ports, shipbuilding, mining and construction industries for assembling custom chain slings and connecting lifting components.

Packaging of G80/G100 Europe Type Connecting Link:

Standard Packaging

G80 European type connecting links are packed in cardboard boxes or woven bags, then placed on fumigation-free wooden pallets or iron pallets for export shipment. Each box is labeled with size, WLL, batch number and CE marking. The standard quantity per carton varies by size: smaller sizes (6-8 to 10-8) are packed 100–200 pieces per carton, while larger sizes (16-8 to 32-8) are packed 10–50 pieces per carton. Cartons are stacked on pallets and secured with strapping. One 20ft container can typically load 18–22 tons of product.

Shipping

We support FCL and LCL sea freight, air freight and express courier depending on order quantity and destination. Available trade terms include EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF; other Incoterms may be available upon request. Shipping costs are calculated based on cargo volume, gross weight, destination port and selected transportation method.

Lead Time

Samples: 5–10 working days

Standard orders: 15–25 working days after deposit

Customized orders (size/surface/color): 25–35 working days after sample approval

Q: What information do you need for an accurate quotation?

A: Please provide: (1) size (e.g. 13-8, 16-8), (2) surface treatment and color (red/yellow/black/galvanized), (3) quantity in pieces, (4) packaging requirement, and (5) destination port or country. We can provide free samples for quality testing.

Q: What is the MOQ and production lead time?

A: The minimum order quantity is typically 500 pieces for standard specifications. Lead time is 15–25 working days after deposit receipt. For customized sizes or surface treatment, lead time is 25–35 working days after sample approval.

Q: What is the difference between G80 European type and US type connecting link?

A: European type connecting link (also called butterfly buckle) has two rotating half-rings with a center pin, allowing the rings to rotate and close at any angle. US type (A-337) has a different geometry with a wider body and a specific pin design. Both meet Grade 80 requirements, but the European type is more common in markets using EN standards, while the US type follows ASTM/ASME conventions.

Q: What is the difference between the 6-8 and 8-8 sizes?

A: The size designation indicates chain compatibility: the first number is the chain diameter in mm. 6-8 fits 6mm G80 chain with WLL 1.12T, while 8-8 fits 8mm G80 chain with WLL 2T. The 7/8-8 size is a special size that fits both 7mm and 8mm chain.

Q: What quality standards does the product meet?

A: Our G80 European type connecting link is manufactured and tested in accordance with EN 1677-1 (components for slings — safety). Each unit is proof tested at 2.5 times WLL, and the breaking load is at least 4 times WLL. The factory holds ISO9001, CE and GS certifications. Test certificates are available upon request.

Q: Can you provide custom colors and sizes?

A: Yes. We offer powder plastified finish in red (RAL3020) and yellow (RAL1003) as standard, with other RAL colors available upon request. Sizes from 6-8 to 38-8 are available. Custom specifications require sample approval before production.

Q: What is the difference between the elastic spring pin and other pin designs?

A: The elastic retaining spring in the center pin provides axial positioning and prevents accidental pin release. The pin must be deliberately compressed to open, adding a safety layer. Some designs use a cotter pin or screw pin; the spring design allows faster assembly and disassembly while maintaining secure retention.

Q: How should the connecting link be inspected and maintained?

A: Inspect before each use for cracks, deformation, wear on the pin and spring, and damage to the powder coating. Check that the pin is properly seated and the spring is functional. Do not use if the link shows cracks, permanent deformation or excessive wear. Store in a dry, ventilated area. Do not exceed the rated working load limit.
